International FAQ

OVERVIEW

Thank you for your interest in going on an International Missions trip with us.

We are greatly blessed by your wanting to come and serve the Lord alongside of us.  An International Missions trip is usually one to two weeks in length. The exciting part is that opportunities for ministry abound during these trips.

We ask that you come with willing hands to help and serve in any area. There are countless opportunities to minister, be open to what God may do with you here!  We see again and again that God does an amazing work in every person on the trip. He truly is a great God!

Thank you again for your interest in what the Lord is doing in this country. Please do not hesitate to contact us with your further questions. We will do our best to provide reliable answers to your questions and help you in any way possible. May the Lord direct you, as you continue to open your heart and seek him!

Important Note: Kingdom Life Ministry cannot and does not guarantee your safety, health, or comfort. We are serving in second and third world countries, in unpredictable conditions but will take every effort to ensure that the places you stay, the food you eat and the vehicles you travel in will be safe.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

Typically those who come on an International Missions Trip have a personal commitment to Christ Jesus and a hunger for “more, Lord!”

Unless traveling with a parent or team, you must be at least 18 years old.

A request to come on a trip begins with an invitation process. As part of that process, you will be asked to supply a pastoral reference and a copy of your personal Christian testimony.

All countries require a passport and in some case a visa.  We will let you know of the requirements that your trip requires so that you will have pleasant experience.

Emergency Medical Insurance for Foreign Travel:

We require that you come with emergency medical insurance in place (no exceptions). Most domestic insurance plans do not cover foreign travel, so check with your plan administrator to verify your coverage. If you need additional coverage, you can talk to your travel agent, or contact Seven Corners Speciality Insurance. International travelers are now able to obtain free, no obligation, online quotations, and you can purchase coverage immediately through SRI's secure server and receive a Virtual ID Card immediately.

HEALTH NEEDS

Vaccines: There are differing travel vaccines required by the countries you are from or traveling through. You should be up-to-date on standard vaccines such as tetanus, typhoid, Hepatitis A, etc. Please check with a travel nurse or your doctor for current recommendations from a medical professional.

You will have to carry proof of your vaccinations for entry into the countries you may visit.

VISAS

You can request applications from an embassy directly, or you can use a visa service. A visa service might expedite the process, especially if you are traveling with a group. To apply for a visa, you will need a passport with at least 6 months remaining after your intended return home, as well as your flight itinerary and 2 passport-size pictures. You should apply for a single-entry tourist visa, unless you know that you will require a multiple-entry visa.

WHAT TO PACK

Clothing

You will need to dress in a way that is acceptable and modest for the culture. Men may wear jeans, pants/trousers and button-up shirts. Women may wear pants/trousers, 'Capri' pants/trousers, and skirts or dresses.

For evening church services or Sunday services we ask that you wear your best. It is disrespectful for visitors to show-up in "grubbies." Ankle length dresses or skirts are most acceptable for ministry outreaches or church services.

We do ask that piercings be removed or covered, except for normal ear-piercings for women.  The same is for tattoos.  Large crosses can also be a problem and we ask that you not wear them.

Note: electrical outlets are European two prong round 220 volts.

Note: Never leave any item on your chair and leave.  You are responsible for all your items, purse, bible, etc.  We will try and find a safe place to put things while you minister but ultimately it is your responsibility.

EXPENSES & CURRENCY

Your expenses really depends on you. Your breakfast and one other meal will be a part of your travel expense.  However snacks and meals outside of those offered as part of the general expense you will have to pay for separately.  This includes all room service. Some people will want to buy souvenirs and some won't.

Currency

We recommend that you bring US dollars and a credit card. American dollars are accepted many places and are easy to exchange for the local currency.

Travelers' checks and cashiers checks are expensive to exchange and are accepted by certain banks.

Visa and occasionally Mastercard are widely accepted. They may be used with a pin number to get cash advances in local currency when needed. There is a currency exchange counter at the airport, which offers a good exchange rate for currency conversions.

CONTACTS

We will make sure you have the contact information of each person on the team so you can continue to keep in contact with the new friends you will make.

We will also supply you with the contact information of the hotels you will be staying at so that your friends or relatives at home will be able to contact you in case of an emergency.

Most of the hotels we stay at will either have Email or phone service.  Carrying a phone card is highly recommended.  However with a laptop and the use of Skype you can easily converse to your family and friends without the hassle of a phone car
